Calpe is located on the Costa Blanca at about 80km from Alicante Airport and 120km from Valencia Airport.
Calpe has a rich culture and history. The Romans, Iberians and the Moors fought a 20 centuries long battle over this magnificent location. In the local museums and the historic town centre there are still remains to be found from this event. In the old village you will see lots of mural paintings, it has lots of characteristic squares and narrow streets and there is a fruit and vegetable market every saturday morning from 8am to 2pm.
The most iconic landmark of Calpe is the high rock formation ‘Penon de Ifach’ where there is a small conservancy area. The Penon can be seen from kilometers away and is 332 meters high. The rock can be visited, if you can handle the climb. But if you do, you will be greeted with a wonderful view over the entire coast line.
On both sides of the rock you have beautiful wide sandy beaches. The most popular being the Levante Beach (playa de Levante). This beach has a 2km long boardwalk with shops, bars and restaurants.
Calpe also harbors a salt lake, Las Salinas. This lake dates back to the Roman ages and is now a conservation area with lots of birds like flamingos breeding and feeding here.
In the port of Calpe there is a daily fish market.
The beauty, culture and gastronomy invite you to Calpe with pleasure. Tourists are more than welcome here!
